Winslow Halloween Trunk or Treat
Winslow local Dane Salazar had a goal in mind when he started the Slow Life Car Club last summer:
To get the youth more involved with fixing their Lowrider bikes or even working on a car or to participate in some of the activities that we put on and just to get the youth more motivated into positive things instead of getting brought down into the negativity I would like to provide better opportunities for growth in the community.

In line with that goal, he and his club got together with the Just Cruis’n Car Club (of which I am a member) to put on a Trunk or Treat event downtown between Second Street and the alley.
He wanted there to be a safe place for the kids and the community to come together and have fun.
And come together they did.
In addition to candy of the sugared kind, there was plenty of automotive eye-candy as well.
TJ served up some fine hot chocolate.
Costumes were spot on.
And we even saw a few creepy highjackers.
Community Coming Together
Just as Dane hoped, the event truly enhanced the sense of community in Winslow, bringing people together at the core location of Winslow’s history for a little spooky fun.
I believe that it was an awesome success I seen a lot of smiling people and everyone having fun stress-free drama free the way it should be.

The Car Clubs’ first annual Trunk or Treat was one for the books. Both clubs are already talking about how to make it even better next year!
Many thanks to Jim Buckley, Lawrence Kenna, and Brian Law for filling in the gaps on my pictures. We had so many cool kids in costume trunk or treating, I never made it off of my ’48 Ford’s tailgate!
Until next time…
